Public member Darrel Palmer was appointed to the Outdoor Heritage Council by the Speaker of the
House in 2025. His current four-year term ends in 2029.
Darrel grew up in the Brainerd Lakes area and is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, ATV and
snowmobile riding, and spending time with his horses and dogs. His favorite outdoor sport is chasing upland birds
with his dogs.
Darrel has enjoyed volunteering in the various communities he has lived in and currently serves as the Vice Chair of
the Crow Wing County Natural Resources Advisory Committee, the chair of the Brainerd Lakes Area Airport Commission,
and a Regional Director of ATV Minnesota. Darrel is a past president of the Brainerd Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse
Society, has served on local boards for Ducks Unlimited, and is a member of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association
and Pheasants Forever.
Darrel has been working in the energy industry since 1979 and currently owns an energy consulting firm that assists
large energy intensive use industrial clients in procuring their natural gas and electric supplies for facilities
scattered across North America.
Darrel and his wife, Carol, have been married 46 years and have 4 children and 8 grandchildren that all enjoy
spending time together at the “Hunting Shack” near Remer MN.
