Ashley Peters

Appointed by the Governor

Public member Ashley Peters was appointed to the Outdoor Heritage Council by the Governor in 2019. Her four year term ends January 2023.

Ashley found her passion for conservation more than a decade ago while constructing hiking trails and portages in Superior National Forest, the Boundary Waters, and Southeast Alaska. During that time, she collaborated with a wide range of state and federal agencies on planning and implementing land management projects. Ashley holds a bachelor’s in Communications, and she spent several years at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources inspiring people to get out to state parks, trails, and forests through the creation of web content and publications.

Ashley currently works for Ruffed Grouse Society & American Woodcock Society as the national Director of Communications and Marketing. Ashley contributes to a wide range of conservation projects, with a focus on forest wildlife conservation. She is also active in her community, volunteering for nonprofits that support conservation and promote outdoor recreation. Prior to her work at RGS & AWS, Ashley worked for the National Audubon Society for seven years.

Ashley enjoys fly fishing, upland bird hunting, camping, and birding. She regularly speaks at hunting and fly fishing events about becoming an outdoorswoman and conservationist. In 2021, she will graduate with a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
